For most of those breaks I went over to YouTube and watched videos from my new favorite channel, WhatsUpMoms. Don't ask me why I'm obsessed with a YouTube channel about moms, I'm weird and they are really funny (and cool). They are a group of three moms that put together all kinds of videos; from tips, healthy recipes, DIY's, and hilarious parody's. They are the moms I hope to be when I have children--I'm obsessed. My favorite videos of theirs would be, "I'm So Pregnant" an Iggy Azalea parody, and "Living for the Share" a Bon Jovi parody. I would go check them out if you want a good laugh.
While watching one of their DIY videos, I got inspired to get a little crafty myself. I took an extra long break Friday afternoon from my paper, headed to the store, and bought supplies for my very first DIY. I always tell people I'm not crafty at all, because I'm not, but I would have done anything to get out of writing this paper for a little while.
For my craft, I made a gold fishbowl vase with fake white roses, and then just gold candles to match the vase. This was SO easy, and I think the finished results turned out really cute!! The link to the video is here. All you need for this project is: glass bowl, flowers of your choice (real or fake), and gold spray paint. Everything else I used was not essential.
Step 1: Get your supplies, find an area you can spray paint, and newspaper down that area.
I used fake flowers because as a college student this is a lot easier for me, I would have much preferred real roses. I just don't have the time to keep refilling them (or the money!).
Step 2: I removed all stickers from the candles, and placed paper towel inside the candle so I do not get spray paint on the inside. You can also use painters tape, but I didn't have any.
You should probably wear gloves, I did not, obviously. It wasn't too hard to get off.
I left the candles upside down to dry.
Step 4: Flower arrangement. I found with the fake flowers, that it was easier to bend the stems back and forth until it broke, than try to use scissors.
I used trash bag ties to keep the flowers for the middle together.
Step 5: I realized I cut my flowers too short, so I added paper towels at the bottom to make the flowers look taller. It worked great!
Finished Results
I hope you try this DIY out! It's super easy and looks so pretty.
Have a great week!!

DeleteThis is so cute! I haven't had any time for crafting this year with my busy schedule (except for earlier in the fall semester when I got my Little but that wasn't optional crafting haha!), but I'm looking forward to being creative this summer!! I have a ton of scrapbooking I will need to catch up on, :-)

I usually don't either, but I thought it was necessary since I won't have time to change them and buy new ones regularly. I'm very happy with how they turned out!

DeleteHonestly, I scrolled through the pictures before reading and I didn't know those flowers were fake until I read what you wrote! I'm impressed with your craftiness. I swear I am the worst crafter ever, but you pulled it off perfectly. Also, I came and read this post yesterday and immediately started watching that youtube channel and I got so distracted that I totally got sidetracked from leaving a comment. You now have me hooked on a new channel..
