Sun and Sunscreen

I am a Florida girl, and I am lucky enough to be a beach girl as well. Living right by the beach means that I have been exposed to the harsh sun my whole life. I know when I was little my parents lathered me up in sunscreen before beach trips, boating outings, and outdoor sporting games, but as I got older and the responsibility of applying sunscreen became my own, I hate to say that I was not as responsible as I should have been with my sunscreen. Especially in high school-- we would go to the beach almost every weekend, and all we wanted was to be tan. For me, sunburn always turns into tan the next day, so I rarely put sunscreen on.

Around my junior year of high school, I became obsessed with skin care and moisturizing. With this new skin care obsession also came an obsession with sunscreen. I would put it on my face, my hands, and my chest almost everyday. Still, I was not putting it all over my body.

College came around and I finally realized how important it is to cover my whole body multiple times a day when I am out in the sun. I still try to put sunscreen on my face and hands as my daily routine, but sometimes I forget.

Now I am home from school, and I'm taking every opportunity there is to head to the beach. Being landlocked in Mississippi is very hard!! Two weeks ago I went to the beach with one of my friends, I put sunscreen on before I left, but I happened to fall asleep for about an hour. It was primetime sunshine, and oh boy did I get burnt. I don't think I have ever been so burnt in my life. It was only on the bottom part of my stomach and the top of my thighs, but it hurt SO badly. I am now even more obsessed with sunscreen than I was before.

Here are my top picks for sunscreen protection!! Please do not go in the sun without sunscreen on! Wrinkles and skin cancer are not worth it.

Stay Sunned and Screened!

For Memorial Day weekend I went to Seaside with some family and close friends. We ate delicious food and hung out on the beach- it was wonderful. When a holiday falls on a Monday it always messes me up!! I hope everyone had a great long weekend, and enjoy the rest of your week!

Headed to Seaside in my new Zacasha tassel necklace! Come back later in the week for more on this amazing jewelry line.

WIW: Want It Wednesday

Usually on Wednesday's I try to put up an outfit post, but I am still trying to get situated with everything I have to do at home, I did not have time to throw together an outfit. Stay tuned next week for one. Until then, I have put together an outfit that I would really like. My friend told me about this Australian online boutique, Beginning Boutique, and they have the cutest things for a pretty reasonable price. I have been dying for a lot of their items.

Here is an outfit that I would love to wear to dinner on the beach, or anywhere really.

Tell me what you think of this outfit!

New Addition!

Okay, so last week I promised I was back, but that wasn't the case. This time, I promise, I am back to consistently blogging. I can't tell you how busy I have been this past month. From regular schoolwork, to finals, packing up my apartment, traveling home, an internship, a job, and everything else. I could not find any time to blog, let alone time to think about what I wanted to blog about. I'm very sad this happened though, blogging at least three times a week was very important to me. Well, enough dwelling on that, time to get to blogging.

As the title of this post would suggest, I have a new addition to my family. If you follow me on Instagram (@thechroniclesofclaudia), you have already seen this sweet new baby. Saturday morning I rescued a beautiful, six week old kitten. I am soooo in love; I just had to share this news as my first post back. One of my best friends and future roommate Molli had a connection to these cute little kittens. She picked hers up Wednesday, and once I saw a picture, I knew I had to have one. The best part is, our cats our brothers, so next year when we are living together, so will these sweet little babes. They will play together and keep each other company while we are out and about.

I am already an obsessive kitty mother. On Saturday, I left him for a little while to go bowling with my cousin, and I was missing him the whole time, wondering how he was doing!! Crazy me!

I named my kitty Hendricks, and Molli named hers Louis aka "Louie". Maybe one day I will give the reasoning to the name Hendricks, it's a funny little reason. For now, I will just leave you pictures of my little one.

I am taking Hendricks to the vet today. I have major anxiety about this, so please pray that everything goes well and he is all healthy!! After the vet, I will be taking little H to see his brother Louie, I can't wait to see them play together!!

Come back tomorrow for a new post!
Thank you for being so patient with my inconsistent blogging.
I hope everyone has a wonderful start to their week!
