SOS: Hair

I have curly/wavy hair, but it's super frizzy. I have never really been a big fan of styling hair, so it has always taken a back seat in all of my routines and when I get ready. I also don't really know how to style my natural hair, so whenever I do style my hair, I always straighten it.

I was recently watching KathleenLights natural hair video and her hair straightening routine, and I became inspired to start taking better care of my hair and always wearing my hair naturally. I hope these products work! I just ordered them from Sephora, so I will keep y'all posted on my hair care journey.

Product Review: Radha Beauty Organic Jojoba Oil

Joboba Oil is known for its moisturizing benefits and is marketed for your hair and dry areas of your skin. You can use it for your body in many different ways. As a skin cleanser and makeup remover, to condition your hair and your lips, and to revitalize any part of your skin/hair that is lackluster and needs an extra kick of moisture.

Jojoba Oil is extracted from the seed of a jojoba tree that is most commonly found in Arizona, California and New Mexico. It is used in many cosmetic products, but mostly shampoos, conditioners, moisturizers and lotions. It's actually more extracted as a wax and is the most similar thing to human skin oil, which is why it is so beneficial to your skin.

It is said that jojoba oil can make skin think that it is producing enough oil, which then will balance out the skin and is non-comedogenic, so if you have acne prone skin you can use this product without fear of it making you break out more because it is an oil. This is a great product for all skin types; oily, combination and dry skin.

Radha Beauty Organic Jojoba Oil is packaged in a dark, cobalt blue container to guarantee a long shelf life. It has a much longer shelf life than other oils extracted from plants and seeds. The oil is a beautiful golden color.

After using this product for a few months I have found whenever I use it, it makes my hair super soft. I have recently bleached my hair and everyone knows how damaging that can be. I believe this product has helped maintain some moisture and added a softness to my hair that I have never had. I also use this product on my skin when it is feeling especially dry.

Sephora + Ulta Haul

Here are a few products I picked up at Sephora and Ulta recently. They are all truly wonderful products and I would highly recommend them.

1- Beautyblender Cleanser: to keep my beautyblender nice, fresh and super clean.
2- Too Faced Hangover Primer: This product is super hydrating and great for dry skin
3- Laura Geller Highlighter in Gilded Honey: I have been wanting to try this famous highlighter for quite some time, and I can confirm, the praise is true, this is a beautiful highlighter.
4- Anastasia of Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Soft Brown: I needed to repurchase this product after runny out several months ago, let me tell you, life is a lot easier with this product.
5- Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: Another very praised product I wanted to try.. The jury is still out on whether it beats my favorite drugstore mascara, I will keep you posted.
6 -Boxum Full-On Lip Cream in Dolly: it's the perfect "your lip color, but better" shade.

Makeup for Beginners and Teenagers

remember what it was like just starting out with makeup and literally having no clue what to do. My mother, who I adore and love, literally does not know the first thing when it comes to makeup, so I had to teach myself. My love for makeup came natural to me, but it didn't really start to progress until I was a senior in high school and an Ulta and Sephora opened up.

I never wore a lot of makeup in middle school or high school; basically just concealer and mascara, but ever since I was a little girl I have lusted over makeup. I would go to my Aunt Sue's house to spend the night and always ask her to do my makeup. I also loved to watch her take her makeup off and see what products she used. So even though I learned to use makeup a little later in life, it has always been one of my passions.

I decided to enlist the help of my favorite 13-year old, Savannah, for this post. Savannah loves when I do her makeup and she has such a beautiful canvas that is so easy to work with. She recently mentioned to me how she wanted new makeup and to be taught how to properly apply it so it looks more natural and smooth. I jumped at the opportunity to help her!

I passed down to her some products that I did not use very often and she already had some products of her own. The main goal for this was to teach her how to put on makeup for school or an everyday look.

1. Always cleanse and moisturize about 10-45 minutes before applying your makeup. This allows for your skin to be clean, but also gives time for your moisturizer to sink into the skin.
2. Optional - Use a primer. Depending on what you are doing a primer may not be necessary. I like to use primers for my makeup to apply smoothly and for the longevity of my makeup. If you are just going to school, this step is not as important.
3. Foundation first - A lot of people think that you should put your concealer on first, but I don't believe that is so. I think you should put your foundation on first to give a base to the rest of your makeup. Use the foundation to even out your skin.
4. Then use the concealer to conceal anything that the foundation did not cover up. If you were to put on the concealer first, you may use unnecessary product that could have been covered up by foundation. You want to try to use as little product as possible. I like to conceal under my eyes and then any other blemishes I have.
5. Powder - I always like to set my foundation and concealer with a powder to make sure everything stays in place and nothing will crease.
6. Blush - add a little color to your face and a nice glow with a little bit of blush. Swirl your brush in the blush and then tap some of the product off so you are not applying too much to your skin. I am a blush lover, so I like to put blush all over the apples of my cheeks and up my cheek bones, but that is really just preference.
7. Bronzer - If you want a little more color to your face, add a little bronzer along your cheek bones, or all over your face like I do. (that may not be what real makeup experts say to do, but it's makeup, make what you want of it and do what makes you feel pretty!)
8. Optional - I like to add a little highlighter over my bronzer or at the top of my cheek bones to add some beautiful shimmer and really boost up your look. For beginners, this may just be an extra step, but like I said it's whatever you want to do.
9. Optional - If you have sparse or hard to manage brows, I would recommend using a brow gel, pencil or a brown eye shadow to even out the eyebrows. I think a eye shadow works just as well as any other brow product and is perfect for beginners because you probably already have a brown shadow in your collection. The ey eshadow I use even has a little shimmer and it doesn't make a difference, just be sure to get a color that is dark or light enough and apply with an angled brush.
10. Optional - I don't use eyeliner very often, in fact I didn't start wearing any (if I do at all) until very recently, but if you would like to wear an eyeliner I would suggest to have a black or brown for your eyelid and a skin colored or white eyeliner for your waterline because it really helps open up your eyes and make them look awake.

Product Review: LAVANILA Sport Luxe Deodorant

I heard about this deodorant from one of Jaclyn Hill's monthly favorites videos, and if you read my post the other day about the best beauty vloggers to follow, then you know how much I love and trust Jaclyn's opinion.

Let's just say she got this product a little wrong.. in my opinion.

I watched this monthly favorite video around the time of the Sephora VIB sale, so I was looking for some good products to purchase. One of my pet peeves is smelling bad, so I am always on the lookout for the best smelling and lasting deodorant. In her video, Jaclyn raved about this Lavinila deodorant, she said it smelled incredible and that it was sport luxe so it was her favorite deodorant to take the the gym. I jumped on the opportunity to purchase this product and didn't even think twice about the $16 price tag on a DEODORANT.

When my package came in the mail, out of everything that I ordered, I was the most excited to try the deodorant. I started using it right away, loving the way it smelled (like fresh, amazing laundry) and the way it felt when applied - like a gel deodorant, a little harder, but not as wet. I could even smell myself and how good I smelt after applying it, which I love when deodorants do. I was telling everyone about it, I was so excited! I even let one of my little cousins try it after a track meet when we were on the way to the mall.

Fast forward a few hours, we are still at the mall and we both notice a smell. We check our armpits and OH MY GOODNESS do we SMELL! Like straight up B.O. We start dying laughing because she smelled better after her track meet than she did after wearing the deodorant for about two hours.

To make this long story a little shorter, I refused to let this product go to waste; I spent $16 on it. I thought about returning it because I was that disappointed in the product, but I was too lazy. I still use it, and it works okay if I remember to reapply about every hour. If not, a B.O. scent will start to creep up on you until you full on smell like sweat.

I should mention that this is a natural deodorant, so this is totally expected coming from a natural deodorant, but I was shocked at the results because Jaclyn raved so much about this product.

I have not tried any other Lavanila products, but I actually want to just to see if I get the same results from the other deodorants. I really did love the smell, but the outcome was just not worth smelling good for such a small amount of time.

Beauty Vloggers to Follow on YouTube

YouTube is my favorite source of information for beauty, makeup and skincare. I watch at least three videos every single day (seriously, that's the minimum). Skincare and makeup are really my passions and what I want to do with my life (more on that topic to come in the future), and this is a great way for quick, fun information. It also is how I relax and decompress, I look forward to watching new videos everyday.

I will list in order of my favorite channels.. The order is subject to change based on how I'm feeling, but I do not follow a vlogger unless I am completely obsessed with them and trust their opinions.

1. Jaclyn Hill - my all time favorite YouTuber. She has the best personality; she's funny, caring, sweet, honest, beautiful, passionate, knowledgeable - oh the list could go on and on. She has really broken into the industry and is doing incredible. Jaclyn does a good mix of high end and drugstore products on her channel, but I would say there is probably just a little more high end. She posts about once a week.

2. Chloe Morello - the funniest and most beautiful Aussie ever. She is so real and herself on her channel and I really love that about her - she's unfiltered and doesn't try to be perfect. Chloe is sooo beautiful, funny and amazing at makeup. She has a love for more of the higher end products, so you won't see many drugstore products, but there are times when she uses them. She posts once to twice a week.

3. KathleenLights - such a sweet and cute blogger! I love watching her videos because she tries so many different products and will give you her 100% honest opinion. She posts about three times a week. Kathleen does a lot of tutorials, hauls and product reviews. I love how down to earth she is and she has a lot of very informative videos. I would say she does a very good mix of high end and drugstore products, but I think she does drugstore prices just a little more.

4. Tati - I love watching Tati's videos because she tries so many different products and really puts them to the test. She posts five times a week, which is another huge plus. She definitely prefers higher end products and that is the majority of her channel, but she will tell you what is worth the price and what is not, she also reviews a lot of drugstore makeup, too.

5. RachhLoves - Rachel does a lot of hauls, product reviews and DIY's. I would say her channel is a lot of drugstore makeup with a good bit of high end makeup. She does a series called "Pinterest Hacks" where she finds cool DIY tricks and tips, puts them to the test and shares the results. She doesn't do a lot of tutorials, but she is really fun to watch and has a very bubbly personality.

Notable mention: Lauren Curtis - she was the first beauty vlogger I ever watched on YouTube. She is from Australia and is so cute, but she just doesn't post very often. Lauren talks a lot on her snapchat about how she doesn't feel passionate about making beauty videos and they don't make her happy anymore, which I can totally understand. I can't imagine how tough it is to do that as a living. She now enjoys vlogging her life more than beautyvideos, which can be fun to watch, I just enjoy the beauty videos more. She is so sweet, sincere and really a good person, it shines through her videos.

bronzed makeup look

This post was inspired by a KathleenLights makeup tutorial from July 2015 where she was so bronzed with natural, beautiful skin. I have been wanting to recreate it since I watched it a few weeks back. Don't forget the St. Tropez or whatever product you use to achieve that bronzed goddess look!

1// smashbox photo ready primer
2// maybelline bb dream bb fresh
+ mix both bb creams together
3// maybelline bb dream bronze
4// maybelline fit me concealer - for concealing under eye dark circles , spots and pimples
5// urban decay naked skin concealer - for brightening, I use under eyes, chin, along nose and forehead
6// laura mercier secret brightening powder - to set your under eye concealer
7// physcians formula butter bronzer - to bronze up the face
8// elf mineral bronzer - to lightly contour, but not much
9// milani blush luminoso
10// colourpop poolside bronzer - I use this as an eyeshadow in the crease
11/ colourpop smoke n whistles highlighter - I use this for an all over eye shadow
12// anatasia of beverly hills brow wiz in toupe
13// loreal voluminous mascara
14// eyeko fat liquid eyeliner
15// revlon lustrous lipgloss

- I have been really liking the bronze bb cream, I love mixing it with whatever foundation I am wearing, it gives the perfect bronzed glow. The fresh bb is not my favorite unless your skin is flawless, but will be a nice item for the summer when I won't be wearing a lot of makeup.

Perfect Summer Maxi

 dress (sold out) //shoes//bracelets (similar)

I bought this dress my senior year of high school to wear to prom - I know it looks nothing like a normal prom dress, but I was so done with looking for dresses for high school dances that I just wanted something pratical that I would be able to wear for years to come. That's just what I did. This dress is from Anthropologie and it's simply beautiful. So comfortable and easy to wear (if you find the right bra). I'm not a color or pattern girl at all, but I don't feel as if this dress is too busy. This will be a staple in my closet this summer as it has been for the past three years. I styled it very simply with sandals and two bracelets. My dress is sold out, but I will link similar ones down below.

e.l.f. haul (+reviews)

I finally decided to give e.l.f a try and order a whole bunch of products. To be honest, I always had the perception that e.l.f. was very poor quality makeup because it was so cheap, I mean how can makeup only be $1!? After watching some YouTube videos and hearing the beauty vloggers say that there are actually some good e.l.f. products I broke down and ordered a whole lot of stuff.

-love this product, it's such a pretty color, but doesn't stay on very long

-this is not the best consistency for your cheeks, but works very nice as a lip product

-this powder didn't do a lot for me, there is another powder below that I like much better

-a pretty good concealer for blemishes **need to try under eye

-I got a pimple right after this order came in, but I honestly don't know if this helped at all

-this brush works very well with the concealer I purchased

-love, love this brush. works so well, very soft and blends product out well, I use it to contour

-this brush is soft, but not sturdy enough, when I am using it, it always feels like I am going to break it

-I have been trying since I recieved the package to pump the product out of the container, but still have not been able to get any out

-pretty good, looks natural, I like it a lot better than the maybeline white liner that I purchased months ago

-my favorite product from the whole order. PERFECT for contouring, blends out so nicely and very pigmented. just be careful because it's very easy to get too much product on your brush and then it becomes a little bit of a mess

-a very nice powder for setting under eye concealer

-this bronzer was not pigmented enough and a little too sparkly for my taste

-this concealer was way too thick and did not blend out at all, it looked cakey and brought more attention to my blemish

-this product is not waxy enough to work on the brows, it is too soft, so it is hard to get a precise line. it was  messy and did not look good

-another really great brush, but I use it for highlighter

-I use this brush for blush and I absolutely love it

-I liked the blush part of this set, it was very pretty, but the highlighter did not show up, I even tried it to wet my brush and the product was not pigmented enough

I hope you enjoyed this haul + review! I had the best time trying out these products and will definitely be repurchasing the products I liked!

Line & Dot Top

A few weeks back, it came to my attention that the majority of what I wear is leggings, and I was asked why don't I dress up a little… Well, ever since then, I have been trying my best to wear "normal" clothes every day.

The top is Line & Dot from Anthropologie and it is so easy to pair with jeans or a skirt and you are ready to go. It's from two years ago, I think, so I have listed some similar options below. These jeans are my latest obsession, they are from PacSun so they are reasonably priced and they fit me perfectly! I have been having a lot of problems with pants lately, nothing has seemed to fit me right, so when I found these pants I was jumping for joy. I paired this outfit with every college girls favorite OTBT wedged sandals and some jewelry.

Clarisonic Review

Hi! Today I am sharing my love for a new-to-me skincare product.. read along :)

The clarisonic has very mixed reviews, which is why I was hesitant to get one. I have read that they can be dangerous for your skin, unnecessary if you're cleansing your face as you properly should, etc. Even with all the negative reviews, I still really wanted to try one out. I received a clarisonic mia 1 for my birthday and I was thrilled. I have been using it for a month now and I can honestly say that it has changed my skin.

I do not have sensitive skin in the least, so I haven't had a problem with it being too harsh or aggravating my skin. I love seeing all the makeup that is removed from my face that a regular wash could never remove. **It is said that if you wash your face with a makeup removing wash and a cleansing oil all your makeup will come off, but my skincare regime is already long enough, I don't want to add another product, maybe in the future. ** I wish I could use the clarisonic every night because I love it so much, but that's not healthy for your skin. My esthitician said it can be a great product, but it really should be used as a treatment only. Overuse can cause erosion ( a cyst, or the discontinuity of the skin exhibiting incomplete loss of the epidermis) and actually make your skin get worse. I like to use this product 2-3 times a week.

I have never had bad acne or breakouts, but always the one or two pimples on my chin during "that time of the month", though I have always had tiny, under the skin bumps and texture that would bother me. Since using my clarisonic, I would say about 85% of those bumps have subsided.

It is recommended to change you brush head every 3-4 months and clean it regularly. To clean my brush, I simply wash it with rubbing alcohol to kill off any germs. Also, do not store it in your shower or any dark place that would allow mold or other bacteria to grow; I leave it by the sink to dry out.

After using my clarisonic at night I follow up with any serums I use, eye cream and moisturizer. This leaves my skin feeling so clean, refreshed, and baby soft.

I recommended this to anyone who doesn't have sensitive skin or a skin ailment and is looking to boost the look of their complexion and really clean out your pores.

I have been washing my face with my first aid beauty face cleanser, and  I use ponds dry skin cream for my moisturizer and Ole Henriksen invigorating serum and eye creme after using the clarisonic.

What is your impression of the Clarisonic?

on the go makeup bag

Hello, happy Monday!!

Last night I was going through all of my makeup; throwing things away, giving some things away and making an on the go makeup bag.

I like to keep a small bag in my purse or car that has makeup in it for when I'm stuck in a situation where I need a quick makeup look or if I need to retouch my makeup.

I am an anxious person, so being prepared for anything possible just soothes my mind, which is why I love having this bag with me at all times.

1- benefit big easy foundation - this is one of my extra foundations that I like, but I don't use very often, so it is perfect for this makeup bag.

2- loreal true match lumi liquid glow illuminator - this is both a primer and illuminator so it will help keep my makeup intact as well as give me a healthy glow when I don't have a lot of products or time to put on makeup.

3- laura mercier tinted moisturizer - I love this product when I want a little bit of coverage, but not too much makeup. I have it in the mini size so its perfect as an alternative foundation for my on the go makeup bag.

4- elf kabuki brush - this will act as my all purpose brush, for foundation & blush.

5- stila huge mascara - another travel size item, I love layering this mascara to give even more length and volume to my lashes.

6- elf eyebrow lifter and filler - this is a new product to me, I'm not a huge fan of it, but it will do when I need a quick brow. I will probably be replacing this item with something else in the future. (my elf haul & review will be out soon, then you'll know why).

7- maybelline rocket volum express - one of my all time favorite drug store mascaras, it gets my lashes just how I like them (especially when layered with another mascara).

8- zoey van jones brow studio tinted gel - I received this travel tinted gel in a birchbox and thought it was the perfect size, but again, not one of my favorite products, so I will probably be replacing in the future.

9- laura geller baked star highlighter n blush - I ordered this from birchbox a few months back, but was unable to find it, so I linked a similar item above. this is a great product for your on the go bag because it's two products in one. you can't bring all of your products, so when you can consolidate, do it!

10- flower db daily brightening - this will be my concealer and under eye brightener, it's very subtle in color, but has a cold ball that helps de-puff and brighten under eyes.  this product is from drew barrymore's cosmetic line.

-In the future, I will probably add a bronzer and a more heavy duty concealer. These were all items from my makeup collection that I liked, but didn't use very often, so it worked out perfectly.

What would y'all add to your bag?
