This post was inspired by a KathleenLights makeup tutorial from July 2015 where she was so bronzed with natural, beautiful skin. I have been wanting to recreate it since I watched it a few weeks back. Don't forget the St. Tropez or whatever product you use to achieve that bronzed goddess look!

- I have been really liking the bronze bb cream, I love mixing it with whatever foundation I am wearing, it gives the perfect bronzed glow. The fresh bb is not my favorite unless your skin is flawless, but will be a nice item for the summer when I won't be wearing a lot of makeup.

Perfect Summer Maxi

I bought this dress my senior year of high school to wear to prom - I know it looks nothing like a normal prom dress, but I was so done with looking for dresses for high school dances that I just wanted something pratical that I would be able to wear for years to come. That's just what I did. This dress is from Anthropologie and it's simply beautiful. So comfortable and easy to wear (if you find the right bra). I'm not a color or pattern girl at all, but I don't feel as if this dress is too busy. This will be a staple in my closet this summer as it has been for the past three years. I styled it very simply with sandals and two bracelets. My dress is sold out, but I will link similar ones down below.












e.l.f. haul (+reviews)


I finally decided to give e.l.f a try and order a whole bunch of products. To be honest, I always had the perception that e.l.f. was very poor quality makeup because it was so cheap, I mean how can makeup only be $1!? After watching some YouTube videos and hearing the beauty vloggers say that there are actually some good e.l.f. products I broke down and ordered a whole lot of stuff.



 
-love this product, it's such a pretty color, but doesn't stay on very long

-this is not the best consistency for your cheeks, but works very nice as a lip product

-this powder didn't do a lot for me, there is another powder below that I like much better

-a pretty good concealer for blemishes **need to try under eye

-I got a pimple right after this order came in, but I honestly don't know if this helped at all

-this brush works very well with the concealer I purchased 

-love, love this brush. works so well, very soft and blends product out well, I use it to contour 

-this brush is soft, but not sturdy enough, when I am using it, it always feels like I am going to break it

-I have been trying since I recieved the package to pump the product out of the container, but still have not been able to get any out

-pretty good, looks natural, I like it a lot better than the maybeline white liner that I purchased months ago

-my favorite product from the whole order. PERFECT for contouring, blends out so nicely and very pigmented. just be careful because it's very easy to get too much product on your brush and then it becomes a little bit of a mess

-a very nice powder for setting under eye concealer 

-this bronzer was not pigmented enough and a little too sparkly for my taste

-this concealer was way too thick and did not blend out at all, it looked cakey and brought more attention to my blemish 

-this product is not waxy enough to work on the brows, it is too soft, so it is hard to get a precise line. it was  messy and did not look good 

-another really great brush, but I use it for highlighter 


-I use this brush for blush and I absolutely love it 

-I liked the blush part of this set, it was very pretty, but the highlighter did not show up, I even tried it to wet my brush and the product was not pigmented enough

Line & Dot Top

A few weeks back, it came to my attention that the majority of what I wear is leggings, and I was asked why don't I dress up a little… Well, ever since then, I have been trying my best to wear "normal" clothes every day.

The top is Line & Dot from Anthropologie and it is so easy to pair with jeans or a skirt and you are ready to go. It's from two years ago, I think, so I have listed some similar options below. These jeans are my latest obsession, they are from PacSun so they are reasonably priced and they fit me perfectly! I have been having a lot of problems with pants lately, nothing has seemed to fit me right, so when I found these pants I was jumping for joy. I paired this outfit with every college girls favorite OTBT wedged sandals and some jewelry.












Clarisonic Review

Hi! Today I am sharing my love for a new-to-me skincare product.. read along :)

The clarisonic has very mixed reviews, which is why I was hesitant to get one. I have read that they can be dangerous for your skin, unnecessary if you're cleansing your face as you properly should, etc. Even with all the negative reviews, I still really wanted to try one out. I received a clarisonic mia 1 for my birthday and I was thrilled. I have been using it for a month now and I can honestly say that it has changed my skin.

I do not have sensitive skin in the least, so I haven't had a problem with it being too harsh or aggravating my skin. I love seeing all the makeup that is removed from my face that a regular wash could never remove. **It is said that if you wash your face with a makeup removing wash and a cleansing oil all your makeup will come off, but my skincare regime is already long enough, I don't want to add another product, maybe in the future. ** I wish I could use the clarisonic every night because I love it so much, but that's not healthy for your skin. My esthitician said it can be a great product, but it really should be used as a treatment only. Overuse can cause erosion ( a cyst, or the discontinuity of the skin exhibiting incomplete loss of the epidermis) and actually make your skin get worse. I like to use this product 2-3 times a week. 

I have never had bad acne or breakouts, but always the one or two pimples on my chin during "that time of the month", though I have always had tiny, under the skin bumps and texture that would bother me. Since using my clarisonic, I would say about 85% of those bumps have subsided. 

It is recommended to change you brush head every 3-4 months and clean it regularly. To clean my brush, I simply wash it with rubbing alcohol to kill off any germs. Also, do not store it in your shower or any dark place that would allow mold or other bacteria to grow; I leave it by the sink to dry out. 

After using my clarisonic at night I follow up with any serums I use, eye cream and moisturizer. This leaves my skin feeling so clean, refreshed, and baby soft. 

I recommended this to anyone who doesn't have sensitive skin or a skin ailment and is looking to boost the look of their complexion and really clean out your pores. 








I have been washing my face with my first aid beauty face cleanser, and  I use ponds dry skin cream for my moisturizer and Ole Henriksen invigorating serum and eye creme after using the clarisonic.

on the go makeup bag

Hello, happy Monday!!

Last night I was going through all of my makeup; throwing things away, giving some things away and making an on the go makeup bag.

I like to keep a small bag in my purse or car that has makeup in it for when I'm stuck in a situation where I need a quick makeup look or if I need to retouch my makeup. 

I am an anxious person, so being prepared for anything possible just soothes my mind, which is why I love having this bag with me at all times.

1- benefit big easy foundation - this is one of my extra foundations that I like, but I don't use very often, so it is perfect for this makeup bag.

2- loreal true match lumi liquid glow illuminator - this is both a primer and illuminator so it will help keep my makeup intact as well as give me a healthy glow when I don't have a lot of products or time to put on makeup.

3- laura mercier tinted moisturizer - I love this product when I want a little bit of coverage, but not too much makeup. I have it in the mini size so its perfect as an alternative foundation for my on the go makeup bag.

4- elf kabuki brush - this will act as my all purpose brush, for foundation & blush.

5- stila huge mascara - another travel size item, I love layering this mascara to give even more length and volume to my lashes.

6- elf eyebrow lifter and filler - this is a new product to me, I'm not a huge fan of it, but it will do when I need a quick brow. I will probably be replacing this item with something else in the future. (my elf haul & review will be out soon, then you'll know why).

7- maybelline rocket volum express - one of my all time favorite drug store mascaras, it gets my lashes just how I like them (especially when layered with another mascara). 

8- zoey van jones brow studio tinted gel - I received this travel tinted gel in a birchbox and thought it was the perfect size, but again, not one of my favorite products, so I will probably be replacing in the future.

9- laura geller baked star highlighter n blush - I ordered this from birchbox a few months back, but was unable to find it, so I linked a similar item above. this is a great product for your on the go bag because it's two products in one. you can't bring all of your products, so when you can consolidate, do it!

10- flower db daily brightening - this will be my concealer and under eye brightener, it's very subtle in color, but has a cold ball that helps de-puff and brighten under eyes.  this product is from drew barrymore's cosmetic line. 

-In the future, I will probably add a bronzer and a more heavy duty concealer. These were all items from my makeup collection that I liked, but didn't use very often, so it worked out perfectly.

5 for Friday

I am dedicating this 5 for Friday to skincare and sharing with you the 5 skincare products that I am obsessed with right now and use religiously.



•My face has never felt so clean or soft since I started using a Clarisonic, I am in LOVE. 
•This exfoliating gel is one of my favorite products I have purchased this year. It has really helped with the texture of my skin and also with the scarring on my chin. It is very gentle and effective, I use it three times a week.
•I use the truth serum collagen booster every day after washing my face. It relaxes and brightens my skin. 
•I love using the invigorating night treatment after washing my face before putting on my moisturizer. It tingles my skin and it really feels like it is treating my skin from within. 
•Now this is not a skincare product, but more a challenge for my skincare and my health in general. Drinking water is so important to maintaing a healthy lifestyle, as well as healthy looking skin. I definitely do not drink enough water a day, and I can tell with how I feel. I am going to fix that and drink the recommended 8 glasses of water a day, which will not be easy!

Summer Wish List

I know it's just barely spring, but here in Florida, spring and summer are basically one in the same. With that in mind, I made up a list of the five pieces I need to have in my closet for summer. At the beginning of winter I went through my closet and gave away six garbage bags full of clothes, which was over half of my wardrobe. It was very therapeutic, but now my closet is so bare. I look forward to adding these pieces in my closet. The bathing suit and white pants are at the top of my list to add!

Colourpop Haul

After hearing so many good things about Colourpop I finally decided to try it out. I purchased 7 products: lippystick, ultra matte liquid lipstick, sculpting contour and highlighting stix, bronzer, super shock cheek blush and highlighter.

The price point is extremely reasonable and the products are beautiful. They are almost all cream based, which is a product I am still getting used to. I apply the bronzer, highlighter and blush with either my fingertips or a beauty blender. I have found it best to dab or pat the product in instead of using stroking motions like you would with a powder because that will make the product apply streaky and splotchy.

So far the highlighter and the lippystick are my two favorite products that I have purchased. The highlighter is very buildable that can give either a subtle, glowing highlight or an intense highlight.

I will save the rest of my thoughts for my review post!

These are what the products look like, except for lumiere lipstick, which would not cooperate when I was making this collage.

New Hair Care Products

I just recently dyed/highlighted my hair for the first time ever. I was really nervous, but I wanted to do something different. I used my favorite blogger Julia Engel from Gal Meets Glam as my inspiration. It took a few tries, but I am so happy with the results! 

I knew that I would need to take better care of my hair after I dyed my hair, so I purchased some new hair care products I would like to share with you. 

I was told I needed to get a repairing shampoo and conditioner, but I went to three different places - Ulta, Target and even Walmart - and wasn't able to find just that. I read each bottle and bought something I thought would be very similar. 

I ended up purchasing the Paul Mitchell Strength Super Strong Daily Shampoo and Conditoner. I tend to get very frizzy hair, especially living in Florida during the summer, so I bought two items from the smoothing line. I also saw this Shea Moisture Frizz Defense Hair Masque and thought I would try it out. 

So far I have tested out the smoothing products the most and I really, really like them. The bigger bottle is a smoothing straight workserum and that is where I noticed the most result. When I wear my hair natural, it's usually wavy/curly, unruly and frizzy, but with this product it actually dried pretty straight and there was not a lot of frizz. I was pleasantly surprised. The smoothing super skinny serum smells amazing and makes my hair really soft. I will repurchase both items in the future.


I also wanted to try out a new mascara, so while I was out at the drugstore I decided to pick up L'oreal Vuluminous mascara. I thought it applied very well without looking clumpy. I tend to like a little more "umpf" with my mascara so I added one of my other mascaras on top and it was really pretty. I would wear this mascara on its own, but I just wanted to see how it worked with other mascaras. I really liked how easy it was to remove the mascara, it just glided right off with some warm water.

Take a bath & relax

love to de-stress and relax. My favorite way to do so is taking a nice, hot bath. 

Ever since I moved back home from Ole Miss I haven't felt the overwhelming sense of anxiety or stress, so I haven't needed to de-stress lately, but every once in a while, even when I'm not feeling too stressed, a bath is a wonderful thing. 

I decided to try out these bath salts my cousin gave me for my birthday, light my favorite candle and watch a few YouTube videos. 

I enjoyed the Village Natural Therapy Aches + Pains Nightime Relief bath salts. The scent was lovely and lasted throughout the bath. The scent didn't lather and last on my skin as I would have liked, but I enjoyed this product. I will be on the hunt for a bath salt that last, lingers and lathers all over the skin.


My favorite candle is Trapp Pure Peony, it's such a light and fresh scent and the candle really fills up a room with the wonderful smell.


After my bath, I decided to moisturize with a body lotion that I had not used since I was in middle school. I forgot how really nice the Bath & Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom lotion smells. It moisturized my skin so nice and the scent is very apparent, but not too strong. I love being able to smell myself throughout the day or night.

HUGE Beauty Hauls To Come

I would consider myself a beauty product and skincare snob. I have already proclaimed my love and obsession for Sephora, but that doesn't mean that I believe you must spend a lot of money in order to receive quality products. I can't even explain the joy that I get when perusing a makeup isle at a drugstore, the prices are great, and the products, for the most part, are pretty amazing.

One of my favorite YouTube beauty bloggers, KathleenLights, opened my eyes to two brands: ColourPop and e.l.f cosmetics. The things I love about her channel is that she loves a good deal and isn't afraid to use cheaper products on her channel. I must admit, in the past I have turned my nose up to e.l.f. cosmetics, thinking that the price point was far too low to come out with quality products, but through watching Kathleen's channel and watching multiple videos where she shares her favorite e.l.f. products and shares tutorials using e.l.f., I decided to give it a try and make an online purchase. It just so happened that e.l.f. was having a "Moving" sale, and a good amount of their products were marked down as low as $1. I ordered 18 products for only $39, which is sometimes the price of just one item at Sephora. There were a few products that I would have liked to get that were out of stock, but I will try again, or see if they are available at Target. I am not expecting each product to be amazing, but I am excited to try it out. I will share with you a haul and review on each product.

I did the same with ColourPop, a brand that I learned about through YouTube. KathleenLights actually has collaborated with them several times, and I finally decided to check out the website after hearing over and over again how really amazing the products are. I ordered seven products and I can't for them to come in to test it all out. Just like for my e.l.f. order, I will also do a haul and review post for these products.

I know this is a lot of makeup and probably a very unnecessary amount for one person to use, but it really is my passion and whatever does not work for me I will pass along to a friend or family member, and what I do end up loving I will share with the world!
